Blues, Brews, and BBQ Concert Series - Nicki Bluhm & the Gamblers

Calling all music fans! It’s that time again—the Blues, Brews, and BBQ Concert Series at Snowbasin resumes this Sunday, July 7^th, with performances by Nicki Bluhm and the Gamblers and special guests the Ugly Valley Boys.

Nicki Bluhm and the Gamblers is a six-piece “rocking country soul” band led by the husband and wife duo of Tim and Nicki Bluhm.  Based in San Francisco, California, Nicki Bluhm and the Gamblers formed in 2008 and have since released two albums: Toby’s Song (2008) and Driftwood (2011).  Considered to be a breakout, up-and-coming act, Nicki Bluhm and the Gamblers is perhaps best known for the band’s “Van Sessions” Youtube videos.  In “Van Sessions,” the band members filmed themselves playing cover songs while driving their tour bus from city to city.  The most popular of these “Van Sessions” videos is the band’s cover of the Hall and Oates song “I Can’t Go for That,” which has received more than two million views. 

The Ugly Valley Boys are a two-piece new roots/Americana band from Salt Lake City.  Comprised of vocalist/guitarist/percussionist Ryan Eastlyn and upright bassist Braxton Brandenburg, the Ugly Valley Boys formed in 2010 and released their debut album, Double Down, in 2011.  Since the release of Double Down, Fans and critics alike have fallen in love with the Ugly Valley Boys’ unique sound.  One critic, Megan Richardson of mirrabook.com, describes the Ugly Valley Boys’ sound as similar to “Johnny Cash with a dose of suburb-bred guitar virtuoso.  Think Misfits, Talking Heads and Chris Isaak covers transformed into upbeat, down-home, three-beers-in, energetic, pomade-styled acoustic country rock that could live in a garage if only its hands were greasier. Throw in a dose of artistic genius…and you’ve got the Ugly Valley Boys.”  Come experience the Ugly Valley Boys’ one of a kind sound and live performance when the band graces the stage at the Patio at Earl’s Lounge this Sunday.

You do not want to miss this show.  This concert is looking like it could be one of the best of the Blues, Brews, and BBQ Concert Series.  This is an all-ages show, so bring your kids.  The whole family will surely have a good time with Nicki Bluhm and the Gamblers and the Ugly Valley Boys.

The Ugly Valley Boys will take the stage at the Patio at Earl’s Lounge at 12:30 pm, followed by Nicki Bluhm and the Gamblers at 3:30.

Earl’s Lodge is located at the base of Snowbasin, just beyond the main parking lots.  The Patio is located around the back of the building; you should have no trouble finding it.  Admission to this Blues, Brews, and BBQ concert is free and open to all ages.  Delicious BBQ grub and beer will be available for purchase.
