Summer time in Ogden Valley is beautiful. The nights are warm and clear, the water at Pineview Reservoir is the perfect temperature for swimming, and all the trails around the area are open and inviting. You’ll find no shortage of things to do in Ogden Valley during the summer. One of our favorite summer-time activities, however, is the Wolf Creek Foundation’s Music in the Mountains Concert Series.
The Wolf Creek Foundation, created in 2006, is non-profit organization whose primary purpose is to sponsor and engage in “activities that enrich and strengthen the quality of life in our community,” according to the Foundation’s website. To aid in that cause, the Wolf Creek Foundation supports the Ogden Rescue Mission, which provides chapel services, rehabilitation programs, and more than 100,000 warm meals to underprivileged men, women, and children every year. The Ogden Rescue Mission, which is located in downtown Ogden, is also home to the Seager Memorial Clinic.
Beyond providing aid to the Ogden Rescue Mission, the Wolf Creek Foundation is particularly devoted to supporting the military. More specifically, the Wolf Creek Foundation provides weekend retreats for airmen from Hill Air Force Base and their families. The purpose of these retreats is to provide airmen who are preparing to deploy a chance to get away with their families prior to leaving. According to the Foundation’s website, these retreats are experiences that “most airmen could not possibly afford... (and they) leave Wolf Creek better prepared for deployment.”
One way the Wolf Creek Foundation raises funds to support its noble causes is the Music in the Mountains Concert Series, which is held every summer at Wolf Mountain Ski Resort in Eden, Utah. The Wolf Creek Foundation always presents a stellar lineup for the Music in the Mountains Concert Series. The Utah Symphony usually makes an appearance. Other artists who have graced the stage at Wolf Mountain in previous years include Jon Schmidt, Korene Greenwood, and many more.
The Music in the Mountains Concert Series 2013 lineup is as follows:
- July 13 – Brenn Hill (Country)
- July 27 – Utah Symphony (Classical Pop)
- August 10 – Anna Wilson and the Crescent Super Band (American Songbook)
- August 29 – Korene Greenwood (Blues/Rock)
Attending a Music in the Mountains concert is the perfect way to surround your family with great company while enjoying some live music in a beautiful setting. In addition, by attending Music in the Mountains, you’ll be supporting a great cause.
Admission to Music in the Mountains concerts costs $20 per carload. The gates will open at 6:00 pm, and the concert will begin at 8:00. Food and beverage will be available for purchase. Wolf Mountain is located at 3567 E Nordic Valley Way in Eden.
Check back with our blog in the coming weeks for more detailed information about each performance in the Music in the Mountains Concert Series.
