TriUtah Ultimate Relay

Do you enjoy competing in relay races or triathlons?  Are you looking for a way to race with your friends?  We know of just the event you’re looking for—the TriUtah Ultimate Relay, coming up on Friday, August 2^nd. 

The TriUtah Ultimate Relay, created in 2011, is exactly what it sounds like—an ultimate triathlon relay race.  This extreme race consists of twelve legs--four swimming sections, four cycling sections, and four running sections—and spans more than 130 miles from Huntsville to Midway, Utah. 

The TriUtah Ultimate Relay course begins in Huntsville at Cemetery Point on Pineview Reservoir’s eastern shore.  The first leg of the race, a 1000-meter swim at Pineview, will begin at 6:45 am the morning of August 2^nd.  After this leg, the next leg is a roughly 38-mile bike ride from Pineview Reservoir to East Canyon State Park in Morgan, Utah, followed by a six-mile trail run at East Canyon.  The race resumes with another 1000-meter swim at East Canyon, and then a nineteen-mile bike ride from East Canyon to Echo Reservoir near Coalville, Utah.  The next leg is another six-mile trail run at Echo Reservoir.  Following a third 1000-meter swim at Echo Reservoir, the race resumes with a 33-mile bike ride from Echo through the tiny towns of Oakley, Kamas, and Francis to Jordanelle State Park in Heber, Utah.  The next leg is another six-mile trail run at Jordanelle.  The final quarter of the TriUtah Ultimate Relay begins with a 1000-meter swim at Jordanelle, followed by an approximately fourteen-mile bike ride to Midway, Utah.  The race concludes with a six-mile dash through Midway to the finish line.

Those who wish to participate in the TriUtah Ultimate Relay may compete as a solo athlete or in teams of two to six people.  Each person must compete in at least two legs.  Only one person from each team is allowed to compete at a time—except during the final run through Midway to the finish line.  The TriUtah Ultimate Relay encourages each team to run this leg together so that teams can complete the race together.  

If you wish to compete in the TriUtah Ultimate Relay either by yourself or with a group of friends, registration is still open until 5:59 am on Thursday, August 1^st.  Registration costs $125 per team member and $125 for solo athletes.  To register, click here.

This event draws thousands of people to Ogden Valley.  In fact, it is expected that approximately 300 teams will compete in this year’s TriUtah Ultimate Relay, and that means anywhere between 600 and 1,800 racers—plus their families—will be searching for lodging accommodations between Ogden and Midway.  We encourage you to bring your team and your family up to Ogden Valley and check out Lakeside Resort, a beautiful condo resort on the southern shores of Pineview Reservoir.  You’ll be hard-pressed to find lodging accommodations closer to the starting line than this.  In fact, the starting line is only ten minutes away from Lakeside Resort.  To learn more about Lakeside Resort, click here.
